City 2 - 1 Kendal
Played in 'orrible conditions. No Rushton, Ubes, Swan or Fildes. We went 1-0 up after about 10 mins somewhat against the run of play, but a great piece of t'interplay from Marshy, Foz and Dodgeson. They had a man sent off (Ashcroft) after about 20 odd mins, not sure what he was up to but he wound Scott up big style and he ain't the sort of player that winds up easily. Any road to cut a long story short they equalised from a pen then we scored again and won. Not a particularly "friendly" game it has to be said - not sure what their problem is. Team was: Wolfie, Cafu, Heffer(n)an, Greenwood, Marshall, Dodgeson, Entwistle, Helliwell, Stringy, Jacko and Foz.

Kendal seem to be building a bit of a reputation as a team to avoid in friendlies due to their aggressive tactics. I don't think Barrow will play them again pre season judging by their forum and it sounds as if they were trying the same tactics against city !!!!!!!!!!! :o :o

Scott was waving his arm about indicating that Ashcroft had elbowed him,but Tommy Pinder indicated a stamp when he showed him the red card...maybe it was both.Some example to set as a player/manager.He wasnt very complimentary to the liner as he left the field either. Going forward we looked no better then average for most of the game,I thought we missed Fildes influence up front(a big descion for Stimmo there!),&,obviously Rushton.We looked very fallible at the back,we need a leader there.I would still like to see Stringy play at center half.Danboyi looked pretty good when he came on I thought

Wasn't Danboyi, it was a lad called Ivanito Fernandez, Portugese and a cousin of our reserve keeper.

But,hold on.....I was refering to the #14 who replaced Dodgeson at half time,played on the left wing,couple of great cross-field passes,,,is that who you meant,Eric?...or the lad that came on later on?

Decent game yesterday which you won by putting your chaces away. Best of luck for the new season. I took a few pictures at the game, although only the first half as the batteries went.
