City 2 Halifax 0 Poor first half, neither side looked like scoring, until their No 3 gifted us our first, with some woeful defending, Fozzie scoring.
2nd half they upped their efforts and were the better side but never looked like scoring, Fozzie got a 2nd, they then hit the post and had a couple of close efforts, however, think we deserved the points only for the fact we scored and they didn't.
They looked a poor side, but as they've only been together for a few weeks, not surprising really.
3 points to us.

The game is about putting the ball in the net :!:
So why were they the better team :?:

It wasn't that poor a first half, I thought City played pretty well. Halifax were better in the second, but as you say they don't look all that good yet. Certainly if they had Skem's attack the result might have been different. As it is relying on a lot of muscle and less pace.
Switching Stringfellow and Heffernan was the right move. Allowed more energy in midfield, and more composure at the back.
Good performance from City, good workrate.

If you read it I say for 15 minutes in the 2nd half, they were the better team.

They were the better team in the second half, because they had more possession, more territory, and more chances. Lancaster scored against the run of play.

Good win. Should have added a third near the end as well.
They had a bit of possession but never really troubled us and in fact it was a header by Stringfellow that hit our own post. Good to see them bring some support as well.
At least we are grinding out results.

I felt it was a hugely enjoyable game to watch. Totally different game to that against Skem. The time seemed to fly by, always a good sign of an equally good match. Lancaster worked extremely hard for the 3 points. Very encouraging.
Liked the look of the Halifax right-back, Peter Moore, making his debut. He played for Exeter City Reserves last Tuesday at Bournemouth. Former Wigan Athletic youngster who was released at the end of last season.

They brought 800 like they said they would...wonder why the attendence was only 560
Thought it was a pretty good game, especially as we won 8) cant argue with 3 points.
Merlyn- 08-24-2008
Well I have to say after about ten minutes of the game I looked around and estimated the attendance to be just over 500. I thought the figure was correct.

To summate, we were pretty poor and they were poorer..........or is it more poor
