Do You Want to Give Morecambe FC some cash? I thought not, me neither.
We desperately need some supporters to act as stewards for this season's home games.
The alternative is we pay an outside body (i.e. a professional event stewarding company or more likely Morecambe FC) a large slice of the hard earned cash we collect through our turnstiles, sponsorship etc.
This did happen last season!
I don't know what you think, but I for one resent giving money to any other organisation to steward matches which we could do ourselves.
OK, the bright yellow bib ain't exactly going to get you onto any fashion TV programme, but it will get you noticed around the ground and get you in to home games for free.
To be honest, at our current level, the task of stewardship isn't onerous.
And
There is a distinct possibility of getting an NVQ through stewarding.
Please don't think this is 'policing' on any level, true stewarding is all about welcoming and befriending our fellow supporters and guests and making the whole experience of visiting Giant Axe a pleasurable one which visitor will be eager to repeat.
So please ask yourself if there is a good reason why you shouldn't support your club by being a steward? If there isn't please give our honourable Secretary, Barry a ring or send me a PM with your number and I'll ring you.
The alternative is simple; we give Morecambe FC another wodge of cash!
Thanks,
Ray.

Yeah, I don't necessarily disagree LCFC 4 EVA, but the league and local authorities insist we have stewards!
So you're volunteering then. :D

Can i ask the reason why we need stewards at this level?
Grizedale- 07-09-2008
LCFC...
It's because of the health and safety obsessed nature of this country post Hillsborough. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'd love to steward but being an ex-pat, I can't make every game.
Could we not offer part time work to Lancaster University students who need the extra cash. They might bring a few mates too to boost the gates.
Or hassle the Job Centre into pressuring the unemployed population to work for the club.

I think the idea is we do it without paying anyone i.e. volunteers.
I've put Jock's name forward.......

Surely we will only need stewards for the Halifax game though. There must be a starting point crowd wise where you must have proper trained stewards, otherwise they'll be needing stewards at Marsh United and Storeys next.

I Agree with you wirraldolly.
Grizedale how can you compare giant axe with Hillsborough?

I think my previous post answers this question
I'd love to steward but being an ex-pat, I can't make every game.
That’s not a problem. Ideally we could do with about a dozen people willing to act as stewards. Only a 2 or 3 would be needed for most matches and perhaps 7 or 8 for any of our bigger gates. This would mean that those matches where someone isn’t available won’t be a problem for them or the club and it could be done on rota. I wouldn’t anticipate anyone stewarding more than half a dozen games through the season ( unless they particularly wanted to )

We simply don’t have the cash… That is unless you’re offering ? And if you’re offering to paying we might as well get trained outsiders. That brings us back to the original question; “Do You Want to Give moroccan-lamb FC some cash?” Surely we will only need stewards for the Halifax game though.
If we’re talking about ‘need’, you’re probably right, however, …the league and local authorities insist we have stewards! There must be a starting point crowd wise where you must have proper trained stewards, otherwise they'll be needing stewards at Marsh United and Storeys next.
Unfortunately it’s not down to the crowd size, but the league and council’s requirements.
The bottom line is we MUST have stewards or risk the wrath of the possible sanctions from the league and/or local authorities.

Why do we have to pay morescum :?:
Ray- 07-10-2008
It's either them or an even more expensive outside event stewarding company
LCFC 4 EVA- 07-10-2008
So no matter what we will have stewards at every home game this season?
