Match Report
Only for some poor finishing the visitors would have returned home with maximum points as Curzon Ashton struggle to kick start their season, having now taken two points out of a possible nine.
The local side started off brightly enough and it was just after the quarter hour mark when a neat move from left to right as Chris Curley played the ball back into the path off David Birch with his cross being cut out by the head of Guy Heffernan as he played it out for a corner with Jamie Byrne waiting to pounce.
Byrne was in action ten minutes late when he connected with a pass on the turn but his goalbound shot struck and defender and went out of play for another corner.
From the kick, David Beresford swung the ball to the far corner, Phil Edghill had the ball towards goal, and with Thornley beaten Neil Uberschar headed off the line.
David Carnell kept his side on level terms with a save in the first minute of stoppage time as Lancaster built a neat move down the left. The ball was driven to the far post where Michael Rushton gained possession. Despite being under pressure from Danny Whelan he still managed to get his shot in on goal which Carnell managed to turn for a corner with his left boot.
Lancaster should have taken the lead four minutes into the second period when Dave Foster found himself in a one-on-one situation with Carnell. His shot struck the left hand post, bounced across goal to team mate Mark Jackson who was unmarked, but his effort went wide.
It was Carnell once again who stood between Lancaster and the opening goal as this time Aaron Helliwell was given time and space to -*test*-('") the blues keeper, but once more it was the boot of the keeper that won the day.
It was perhaps no surprise that Lancaster went ahead on 56 minutes and it was a slack ball from Curley midway inside the Lancaster half that enabled the visitors to break forward. With the home defence caught flat footed Jackson was through on goal and on this occasion Carnell came off second best as the forward slotted the ball home.
Curzon started to push forward more and more while Lancaster at times left only one man forward and it was good fortune on 83 minutes that brought the local team level as they battled for, and won, the ball on the left, with Alex Elliott gaining possession. His cross into the box drifted goalward, and with Thornley committed, over his outstretched arms and into the net.

He's called Ricky.
Looking at his player profile on our site he looks as though he should be playing in the U12's - could be just bad lighting though.

He hasn't even had his first birthday yet
